MSP430F5659: Communication Issue in some PC'S

Hi TI team,

Device Details:

Controller Used - msp430F5659

Interface - USB-CDC

We have the USB driver provided by TI which we could install successfully. Its getting detected in device manager as per the name given in inf file. We could communicate successfully using utility tool.

In few PC When we connect our device in USB port we are unable to communicate

What is our problem?

1. In some windows 7 PC , When we connect our device we got error message pops up as "USB NOT RECOGNIZED" in some PC.

2. In some windows 7 PC, This issue not occurs we are able to communicate without any issue's

3. In some windows 7 PC, One USB port works where other USB port not works?

Note:

In problem scenario(USB NOT RECOGNIZED) also if we use external Hub it is detecting and works well.

Clarification Required:

Kindly clarify on this issue. Please provide your input on high priority.

Hello Jaimanoj,

This issue is most likely on the Win7 side of things. Typically, you have to get Windows to correctly recognize the USB connection which can be done sometimes by plugging into a different USB port on the machine. If this doesn't work, the following two E2E posts may also help you.

Hi Jaimanoj,

Do you see the issues you described in your post also when you connect up a MSP430F5529 Launchpad to the Windows 7 PCs? Are you using a TI EVM board like the MSP-TS430PZ100USB to test the MSP430F5659 or your own customer board? If it is your own custom board, you can verify your USB design is correct by referencing Figure 8 of document SLAA457b.pdf

Hi Arthi,

We cross checked USB circuit diagram in our schematic it matches with figure number 8 mentioned in the pdf SLAA457b.pdf
Please advice

Hello Manoj,

Have you tried other USB ports on the machines with issues? Are these ports USB3.0 Enabled? If so please sue a different port that is not USB3.0 enabled.
