CCS/MSP430F5324: Modbus Baudrate

Part Number: MSP430F5324

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi All,

I am working on MSP430f5324 controller, I want to know the lowest and highest range of baudrate to communicate with modbus.

Thanks,

Sandhya

  • Hello Sandhya,

Unfortunately, I could not find an answer to your question.  I assume that it depends on implementation.  Through some searching, I've seen people mention baud rates anywhere from 9600 to 38.4k but I don't know if where the exact limits would be.

TI doesn't provide Modbus solutions, but there seem to be open source projects that will run on the MSP430.  You may have to just do some testing.

Do you have a range that you are wanting to support?  Maybe if you share your targets here, some user's in the community may be able to confirm if they've implemented a similar solution before.

    Thanks,

    JD

  • Thanks for reply JD,

As per I know the min baudrate is 1200 and max 115200, on which I want to work with.

  • Thanks for sharing your target baud rate range.  I imagine the low side is fine, but again, I'm not sure where the upper limit is.

I'll leave you post open to see if anyone from the community has any first-hand experience.  Also, please share any testing results you find on your side.

    Thanks,

    JD

  • The speed limits will depend on the physical layer. For instance, RS-485 speed limits depend on transmission line length.
