EVM430-FR6043: Water depth measurements

The EVM430-FR6043 can work with 200kHz transducer. You just need to load the gas meter demo for that. You can use an external amplifier to power the transducers. You only need to measure the absolute time of flight to figure out the depth of water, right?

Hi,

That is correct I only need to measure the absolute time of flight. I am going to use a UA741 op amp between the pins and the transducer to bump up the voltage.

However when I load the Gas Demo onto the board, the GUI doesn't recognize the EVM.

When I load the water demo the GUI will connect to the board, but I am getting the error HSPLL 24 HSPLL detected that the PLL has unlocked. And when reading the transducer pin outputs on an O-scope I don't see any excitation voltage from the board.

I have followed the hardware configuration in the gas flow meter quick start guide. I am using CCS to program the board. I even tried flashing the gas demo binaries through MSP Flasher, but that didn't seem to help.

Any help would greatly appreciated

Hi Justin,

This is weird. When you load the gas demo to the board, have you connected the transducers to the board? If so, please remove it and load the demo again and try. Also, can you take a photo showing your whole setups?

Could the problem be because I am not using the E2 revision version of the board?

The gas demo will load, but the GUI will not recognize it

How should I go about checking this?

You can use a oscilloscope to check on the clock resource.

I tried checking it with my Analog Discovery 2 and there is no signal. Although, this could be because I am not using high impedance probes.

Is there any way else you can check on that clock resource?

I was able to get this signal directly from the clock. It as about 8 MHz which is what is programmed to be at.

If so, the HSPLL should be fine. The GUI still couldn't recognize the gas demo?

Gas demo does not recognize the EVM. Water demo says PLL unlocked.

I've been debugging the template project provided with the SW Library. I stepped through it line by line.

The program completes the USS_configureUltrasonicMeasurement() function without an error.

Then it goes to USS_verifyHSPLLFrequency() where code value is changed to USS_message_code_UUPS_power_up_error.

When checkCode is called next it goes into the trap loop where the program gets stuck.

I checked the oscillator and it appears to be working properly so what could be causing this?
