MSP430G2553: Best practice to Program the Microcontrollers for Production

Hi,

Can anyone please tell the best way to program the MSP430 microcontrollers for production? Which is the cost efficient, stable and quickest option?

Can I get the MSP430 controllers preprogrammed with the desired firmware during production order from TI or distributors?

Hello,

You have two options:

1. Program the device which is already assembled. For this method, you need reserve JTAG/SBW interface in your board.

2. Program the device using Target Board before assembling. Then assemble the device. Please see the MSP-TS430PW28A Target Board for more details.

For the information about JTAG/SBW interface, please see MSP430 Programming with the JTAG interface.

For the programming tool for production, you can use MSP-GANG Production Programmer.

Is it possible to program the MSP430 VQFN package 32 or 40 pin using target board before assembly? Is there any Target board available for that?

Hello,

No, we only have MSP-TS430PW28A Target Board for MSP430G2553 28 pin package. For other devices, you can find the existed Target Board in devices' Design & Development page.

Or user can develop their own Target Board for programming before assembly.
