EK-TM4C1294XL: TI - IOT server ends?

For years, Exosite has provided free access to our Portals and One Platform software for evaluation and testing purposes. You currently have a user account on the following domain: https://ti.exosite.com

Over the last two years, we’ve made some dramatic changes to our software, including the release of our Murano® IoT platform in 2017 and our condition-monitoring solution, ExoSense®, in 2018. We are confident that the improvements with these newer technologies will provide a better solution for our customers, and we’ve been working to transition the users of Portals and One Platform to Murano and ExoSense with great success. As a result, we are planning to discontinue access to the Portals user interface and One Platform on March 31, 2020, including https://ti.exosite.com/.

So we have to end all testing of IOT on the TI servers too?

  • Hello BP101,

Let me ask around about this and get back to you in a couple days.

  • Hi Ralph,

Seemingly vendors may have stock of launch pads loaded with IOT firmware unless TI recalls all stock. Noticed IOT server has not ever been updated to indicate the Google world map of connected launch pads locations. I personally lost some interest as the LWIP1.4.1 client (Slow TCP timer) often faults MCU with dual TCP pBuf stacking.

More recently changing that dual pBuf topology to handle only an IOT client at some later date.

  • Hello BP101,

Indeed that is the case with the stock of LaunchPad's. That is something we will need to assess on what to do regarding this and I don't have information at this time on that front.

As far as the question of:

First of all I want to clarify that isn't exactly a TI server - it is a third party we had worked with to provide those servers but that is not TI owned.

We are going to crosscheck that there is no contract or such in place of which we could demand the servers to remain up, but I doubt there would be such in place, so as it stands currently this is an Exosite decision and not one that we are likely to try and reverse.

So for all intents and purposes as of the moment I would say yes by March 2020, you would need to find a different IOT testing platform or maybe use Exosite's server on a different domain (I have zero knowledge of how Exosite is setup).

I will probably get a bit more information in the coming days/weeks, and will share what I do.

  • HI Ralph,

    Thanks for info and update!

The 3rd party IOT platform was slow to update stats and fell way behind real time 1-2 second broadcasts up to it. Have a look at how many launch pads it shows being connected is bit questionable too.
