TI OBD-II CAN-Bus solution inquiry

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1042-Q1, TLIN1027-Q1

Dear team,

My customer is planing to develop a OBD-II product for car after market in US.

It is one OBD tracker for passenger car, it includes long-range communication feature, GNSS, and some other sensors.

TI has some power & control solutions for OBD-II CAN-Bus, would you please share some information or reference design to me?

Thank you.

Kane

  • Dear team,

Customer request buck controller must follow ISO 7637 in cold cranking, load dump, Reverse polarity connection.

Do you have any suggest part number that we could study first?

  • Hi Kane,

I'd suggest TCAN1042-Q1 as an initial suggestion.  It supports CAN and CAN FD interfaces and its wide voltage range support of +/- 58 V on CANH/CANL allows it to tolerate load dump transients in 12- or 24-V systems when centralized load dump suppression is used.

Many OBD-II connections also include ISO 9141 K-Line or L-Line interfaces.  For these, I would recommend TLIN1027-Q1.

Please let us know if you have any feedback on these recommendations.
