Hi Jackson,
Are you referring to SmartConfig with encryption enabled? Or are you referring to a connection to an AP with security enabled?
Thanks & Regards,
Raghavendra
I am using the CC3000BOOST on a Tiva launch pad. There is an example code called "basic wifi example." Currently, the example code requires smartconfig to be run on an unencrypted network. I thought that Smartconfig was designed to work over encrypted networks as well. I am not sure how I can enable this feature in the example code. I think that means I'm referring to smartconfig with encryption enabled?
This link should show you how to achieve AES encrypted smart config http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Smart_Config
Hi Jackson,
You can use the standard Basic Wifi application for this as well. All you need to make sure is, the flag 'CC3000_UNENCRYPTED_SMART_CONFIG' is not defined and also the TINY DRIVER is not enabled (this is enabled with MSP430G2).
You can enter the SmartConfig mode on CC3000. And on the configuration device, start the smartConfig app and enter the encryption key, and then press Start.

Thank you very much Raghavendra. I see what you're referring to in the code.
Turns out, the CC3000_UNENCRYPTED_SMART_CONFIG was not defined after all. A previous tutorial I found here:
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Basic_Wi-Fi_example_application_for_MSP430
This tutorial stated that I needed to provide the key 'smartconfigAES16' in order to activate the controller over an encrypted network. It worked very well.
Thanks again for responding. Any thoughts on what makes this key so special? Is this variable subject to change in the future?
Jackson
Hi Jackson,
There is nothing special about this key. It is defined as 'smartconfigkey' in the BasicWifi Application. As of now we do not have any plans to change this.
Thanks & Regards,
Raghavendra
