EK-TM4C1294XL-CCS download speed slow

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SW-EK-TM4C1294XL

Has anyone tried to download the TM4C1294 LaunchPad software package EK-TM4C1294XL-CCS from http://www.ti.com/tool/sw-ek-tm4c1294xl ? It is so slooooooow. After more than half a day, I've only managed to download about 15% of it. I estimate it will take over 5 days to download. Not a good start to my TM4C1294 LaunchPad experience.

Yes, I have a fast internet connection.

What's going on?

  • Hello Vito,

TI servers are undergoing maintenance for "heartbleed". So response would be slower. E2E is also slowed down over the last 1 day.

    Regards

    Amit

  • Thanks for the quick response. Any idea roughly how long before tings are back to normal.

It may be worthwhile putting a message on the forum (or somewhere) to alert others.

So true - friend Vito - so true.  And we, many others - feel/share your pain.

Vendor will surely "get to that" right after they better mention NMI pitfall & other long lingering "hiccups."  Any, "security concerns" can be handled by simple, "Site Maintenance Issue - Response may be slowed," announcement.

Thus - your, "may be worthwhile" is gentle in the extreme - heavier hammer appears better choice...  (i.e. tell us something - this site - this time!)

Here is a maintenance alert for April 24. FYI.

My (only exosite signee w/in Philippines) friend - the "placement/location of Here" - and the (future) alert for April 24 -provided scant comfort to friend Vito (who was delayed & discomforted on 23 April) - and so to our group.

Vito's fairly active - same for this reporter/group - that's 2 out of 3 "actives" who "missed" the hallowed warning.  Bet you the percentage missing rises far beyond that 66.66%...  (one assumes your "alert" arrived via exosite!)

Ineffective communiques - whether NMI or Alert - warrant neither encouragement nor defense!

  • @cb1. I just want to help to inform the uninformed. Also, show where to look at E2E for E2E Maintanance Alert. No wrong intentions.

I PM you, where I initially got the "alert" for E2E Maintenance.

  • @ kel,

Believe you to be smart, motivated, good guy.  (have so stated - often - via PM)

But really - unpaid forum servants as we are - should Vito, You, I, others, all, "have to look/search" for, "forum is F'ed" message?  Would it not be far better - to be Right HERE, Right NOW?  (mais certainement, n'est pas, mon ami?)

  • I'd like to add that the E2E Maintenance Alert says nothing to suggest that software downloads are affected :-)

Afflicted may be better word choice!  (Ate your time - and my group's...)

Vito - ever the diplomat - gently prods kel's defense of the "indefensible."

As Vito notes, software downloads and E2E maintenance are not mutually exclusive as E2E is completely separate from that. If anyone is still having issues in regards to software downloads let us know.

Thanks for feedback on maintenance alerts here on E2E though!

  • Almost a week later and I still can't download SW-EK-TM4C1294XL-CCS at anything more than a snail's pace. Invariably the browser stops the download and I have nothing.

So, after almost a week I don't have SW-EK-TM4C1294XL-CCS. If the browser doesn't hiccup, at the current rate it will take 2.4 days complete. But it will hiccup. So I just can't get SW-EK-TM4C1294XL-CCS.

    Help! What do I do?

  • Hi Vito,

Just out of curiosity, I am currently downloading the SW-EK-TM4C1294XL-CCS and the estimated download time is varying from 6 to 10 hrs. Comparing to your estimated download time of 2.4 days, It is possible that there are other factors contributing to your slow download. (I will cancel this download as I have already a copy of Tivaware for EK-TM4C129)

  • Put a hold on that last post. I now have information that it may be a problem at my end. Will try on the home computer and report back.

  • False alarm. I've just downloaded the software in about an hour from home. Somehow at work it was having problems. Strange interaction since other downloads at work are faster than at home. So, problem solved, but I'm still not sure why I was seeing the slow download at work.

Thanks for everyone's concern. I can now start porting my code across from the LM3S9D96 to the TM4C1294x. Let's hope it goes smoother than the download attempt.

  • Hello,

I had tried to download during past 2 days and finally I gave up at this morning.

I have successfully downloaded dk(3.2GB) package after switching web browser from chrome to explorer. It takes for about 5 hours.

    Regards

Clear the browsing data of Google Chrome and try again.

I have past experienced not able to download this documents at TI using Google Chrome. The solution was to clear the browsing data.
