Thanks for those links .  Mr. Valvano really made life easier. I even took his Edx.org course too. It helped somewhat (I was having trouble understanding the API calls and callbacks) . But is it possible to flash the CC3100 with new firmware using the launchpad itself through the SPI pins or something ?

I was wondering if I can use the CC3100 without the CC31XXEMUBOOST. Can I just directly plug it to my launchpad out of the box? Is it mandatory to buy the EMUBOOST?

I think is a good option to have - first everything relating to wifi can be emulated/set/debugged on PC, without Tiva board, then just linked together. See also UNIFLASH for CC3100/3200.

Also useful for learning - at least for me, there are some other tools available (radiotool) which can help you to debug/find out other parameters. However it is your option, if you are strong enough in wifi ( which I am not) and can ignore it .. -  I just got it into your attention. Do as you wish.

 Hi, As Petrei smoothly pointed to on side of LMflash, why not evaluating 3200 Launchpad  instead of EK-123 launchpad and boosterpack?

 This can do all the job in one single complete less expensive board too:

Thanks for the suggestion. But the matter is I already have the TM4C123GXL board and I have already ordered the boosterpack from TI through the component request form. But I did not order the emulation boosterpack. I was just asking that will I need to order the emulation booster pack or i can work only with these two parts. Because buying a new launchpad again will add an extra cost to the project.

Consider this: You have time till feb-15 and you are right now in the middle of ordering the boards. Then between the individual boards you would end by debugging something that is not working and toggle between tm4c and cc3100 forums. So isn't the overall "extra cost" lesser when using the cc3200 LaunchPad, where all debug/support/development will be on a singular system and forum?
