TM4C1294NCPDT: JTAG Daisy chain for TM4C129x

Part Number: TM4C1294NCPDT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SEGGER

Hi, Everyone

I have a question about JTAG daisy chain for TM4C129x.

It is described about JTAG daisy chain in SPMA075

www.ti.com/.../spma075.pdf

Is it depended on JTAG ?
Is it available for XDS510USB and Blackhawk XDS560v2 ?

If every JTAG TI release is available, I understand We can debug for each TM4C129x of daisy chain .

This understanding is correct ?

Best Regards
Hiroyasu

  • I am sorry, but I do not understand your questions. The TM4C129x devices do have a JTAG interface. XDS510USB and XDS560v2 are JTAG scan controllers that can be used for programming and debug of TM4C129x devices.
  • Might it be that w/Charles travelling - Amit (otherwise) assigned - you've,  "somewhat missed" poster's note of, "Daisy Chain of JTAG?"

Surely you "know of that" - our firm has used that method - but always & only via Segger J-Link - which details the method - and is "tried & proven" in that daisy chain objective.

Over-all - for poster - the added complexity, time required to understand/implement/experiment/master - and demands upon those (lesser) JTAG Pods may make this an extremely challenging effort - one not guaranteed to succeed...

It should be further noted that the,  "last device w/in the daisy chain" - challenged w/the longest & potentially least direct routing path - may be especially vulnerable to errors induced by signal reflections and board parastics - caused by the signal routing demands imposed by the, "daisy chain."

  • CB1, yes I have missed several post due to a medical emergency over the weekend. I am limited to occasional posts from home when the pain medication is between loopy and ouch.
  • Ouch - Never fun my friend.     Sensing such - even after cross-country flight - I've tried to provide poster (here) w/needed insight re: Daisy Chain.     Most always - such is ONLY attempted by those w/past experience & know-how - and (usually) over-challenges "first timers."

I have advised poster in such manner - hoping to lessen your "wear/tear."     Feel better.     (so much easier said than done!)

  • Code Composer Studio does support having devices in a JTAG daisy chain. The daisy chain is described to the debugger when creating the target configuration.
  • Poster appears to (somehow) have missed that!

Poster did note - and possibly absorbed, "SPMA075" - yet his questions still arrived...

Might the required (proper) "signal routing" - from JTAG device to JTAG device - (also) have been missed? And if so - what then?
