EK-TM4C1294XL: Board as a client sample code

Hi,

I am new to embedded ethernet commmunication and RTOS and learning through sample codes.

I am looking for TM4C1294xl to act as client and update certain GPIO pin values to server but I am unable to get my hands on any sample code for TM4C1294xl as a TCP client.

Most of the sample codes in example are for lwip-server.

I understand how it words in C on linux but unable to put everything together on embedded board.

Hello Mayank,

Have you looked at examples from both TivaWare and TI-RTOS for Tiva-C software packages?

Do you require RTOS for your design? Are you planning to use TI-RTOS if so?

No I didnt go thourgh TI-RTOS software package since I dont intend to use RTOS.

Hello Mayank,

It looks like we don't have any client examples with TivaWare. The TI-RTOS offering as an HTTP Get Client example, but that would then include using an RTOS.

On E2E some community members have done work to get client setup for TivaWare examples, you should search for some of those postings as there are code snippets shared which can help you put that together.

Hi Ralph,

Really appreciate your help here.
I took your advice and thought of giving a try to httepget code (implmented on RTOS).
I am also monitoring the packets on wireshark just to ensure things are wokring fine.

But now I am stuck at error :
Sending a HTTP GET request to 'ptsv2.com/.../post'
00009.000 TcpTimeoutRexmt: Retransmit Timeout
Error! code = 400, desc = httpTask: cannot get status

Here the server is just a dummy server.

Hello Mayank,

Can you try to use a real server? The client will time out if the server doesn't respond. If the dummy server doesn't respond to the HTTP GET command, then it's probable that what you are seeing is due to that.

Can you pur more detail on real server? Since the server "ptsv2.com/.../post" also responds well with browser.

Should I use python simple server using "python -m http.server 8000"
and try to get request to
http://127.0.0.1:8000

Code changes:-

I tried the example but modified the host name to www.ti.com and below is what I see on the console.

Hey Charles,

Sorry for late reply.

Well i guiess the issue was with the way I was trying to get thourgh.

I was sharing WiFi network though ethernet to the board using my laptop, but connecting it directly to the Router got me though and I got the same response as yours.

Though I am still looking for some meaningful test server where I can monitor the requests and send response from webpage rather than just pinging ti.com for ecample.
