Hi

The customer is currently applying DRV8840.

I want to raise the output slightly. In order to solve the heat problem of DRV8840, product recommendation was requested.

In this regard, I recommended DRV8842. Peak Output Current (A) is 6A in Parametrics value of homepage, but it is 5A in DATASHEET.

The DRV8842 is a better product in terms of heat, considering the RDS ON value is lower, but the customer wants to compare the two products because it is the same 5A in DATASHEET content.

Can you compare the DRV8842 to the DRV8840?

In my PIN MAP, I think the two products are the same. Can I use PIN TO PIN? (Currently DRV8840 is controlled by PWM 1ch.)

Or can you tell me a better alternative to the DRV8842 for the DRV8840 output increase?

    The DRV8840 and DRV8842 are functionally equivalent. The only difference is that one uses a PWM interface and the other uses a PH/EN interface.

    The DRV8850 may work for you. Otherwise the DRV8873-Q1 is coming out soon. I believe we are sampling it now.

    If those don't work, check out our BDC gate driver portfolio. You would have to also get FETs, but the gate driver solution gives you more flexibility in terms of heat and current.
