DRV10983EVM: GUI error: "USB2ANY.Ivclass.read.register.vi immediately after GUI startup

Part Number: DRV10983EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, , DRV10975EVM, DRV10983

When  starting the GUI I get the error:  "USB2ANY.Ivclass.read.register.vi  <err>   Please restart GUI and try again."     I have 2 units DRV10975EVM and DRV10983EVM and have gotten the error on both.  I am running GUI on a relatively new computer with Windows 10  OS.  Do you have a workaround for this issue?

  • Hey Michael,

Unfortunately, this error with the GUI does not help narrow down what the problem might be. As a result, we'll have to go step by step and make sure we're on the same page. Here are my questions and comments below:

    1. Luckily, the GUI is compatible with Windows 10
    2. Have you downloaded the LabView 2014 Runtime Engine? It is mandatory for the GUI to work correctly
      1. http://www.ni.com/download/labview-run-time-engine-2014/4887/en/
    3. Have you followed the Out of the Box steps in the DRV10983 EVM User's Guide to ensure all connections are correct?
      1. http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slou393e/slou393e.pdf
    4. Have you tried running the DRV109xx GUI software in administrator mode to ensure there are no problems with permissions?
    5. Have you conducted hardware checks to make sure the set up is successful?
      1. Light illuminated on the USB2ANY
      2. Measuring V1P8, and V3P3 with a Digital Multimeter yields approximately 1.8V and 3.3V, respectively
      3. Power supply is not experiencing a current limit event (i.e. power supply is not supplying at the current limit set)
    6. Are you able to click the "enable config" button and have it turn green with no errors?

Essentially, this error means the I2C commands from the GUI are not being received by the device. By doing these steps, we ensure that the GUI, USB2ANY, and Device are properly connected and ready to receive I2C signals.

  • Thank you Cole. What should the USB2ANY firmware level be? Is there need to reset the USB2ANY by depressing the button at startup?
  • Hey Michael,

The USB2ANY firmware should be 2.7.0.0. You can see what firmware version your USB2ANY has by using the USB2ANY Firmware Explorer application that should have been installed on your computer when you installed the GUI.

The instructions to press the button on the USB2ANY only refers to updating the firmware on the USB2ANY. If you didn't recieve a message about updating the firmware then I assume you updated the firmware correctly the first time. As a result, pressing the button should no longer be needed.

If you need help installing the firmware on the USB2ANY, I've attached a word document that should discuss how to update it.
