DRV2605L: standalone

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2605L, DRV2603

Hi~ Customer want to use haptic device and considering DRV2605L, but MCU doens't support I2C mode in production, so asking if it can use as a standalone mode(with pre-programmed mode if possible.)

Let me have your advice for standalone mode operation not control by I2C.

If we can support pre-programed device, if need additional cost, also let me know.

Thanks.

  • Hi, Jin-Suk,

Unfortunately, the DRV2605L requires of a previous I2C configuration since it needs to configure some parameters based on the connected LRA/ERM. Or at least, there would be needed an auto-calibration routine in order to configure the device according to the actuator characteristics. In that way, even if we could support pre-programmed device, the application would need an I2C command to change from an auto-calibration or parameters calibration mode to an active mode.

I would suggest to consider the DRV2603. This is a single haptics driver that doesn't need of I2C lines. It may be used to control ERM and LRA loads. Please take a look at it and let me know if you have further questions or comments.
