DRV8432: DRV8432 burned issue

Part Number: DRV8432

Hi

I have card use DRV8432 to drive stepper motors. There are 3 of hundreds cards have DRV8432 burned failures. There are short circuit at output and all power rails on the burned parts. We want to know why the thermal protect won't work. We also noticed the driver will heat up very quickly without heatsink during short time test.

    Hi Tony,

    Can you provide more information such as:

    1) What is the PVDD voltage?
    2) How much load current is the DRV8432 providing?
    3) What is the PWM frequency?
    4) What are the M3, M2, M1 pin settings?
    5) A schematic showing the components and connections around the device (especially capacitors and output connections if parallel mode is used)
    6) A layout of the DRV8432
    7) Do you have more than one DRV8432 on the card?
    8) If yes, does the burn happen at the same location?
