DRV8825: noissy current on motor phases

We have approx 80% on 1000 boards stepper drivers using your DRV8825 with important noise on the phases current - both phases - this induce audible noise on our instrument making this undeliverable to our customer.

Power supply is 12Vdc motor current is 0.5A/phase.

As we already mentionned if we cross the chips good one with bad one - the problem follow the chip not the board.

Hello,

I was able to watch at the video.

It could be that the indexer might not be receiving the proper amount of STEP pulses. That could explain the jerky motion of the current.

To confirm if this is the case, can you provide a scope shot of the current waveform and the nHOME pin with the trigger point set to nHOME signal on both the good and the bad chip? set the scope to measure mean, minimum, and maximum frequency of nHOME.

Hi Pablo - we found the problem - it was a too short pulse on our clock - producing step looses.

It was hard for me to find the problem because this product was running fine for 8 years with A3979.

The problem appears when going to TI controller. Sorry for this mistake and thanks for your help.
