BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS: SPI nSCS issue

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS

Hi team,

My customer is using DRV8323RS for their design, and they connect the nSCS PIN to ground but the SPI communication fail (no other SPI device on the Bus).

Could you please help check if we have to pull the nSCS high and pull down by IO? and meet the 400ns requirement between words?

Thanks.

  • James,

Thanks for posting on the MD forum!

The nSCS pin must be controlled by the MCU, we cannot keep this signal connected to GND as the device uses the nSCS pin transition to sequence the SPI.

    Regards,

  • Hi Adam,

    Thanks for the comments.

I have one more questions for register:

Customer read the "Gate Drive HS Register (address = 0x03)" and get all 0 at the first time, and then read again to get the default value(second time).

Could you please help to share some advice for this?

    Thanks.

  • James,

I am not sure why they would read all 0 here, the device should never be all 0 unless this was written.

Please double check the SPI operation.

Which FET is the customer using? I don't recommend using the default for this register, the IDRIVE should be customized for their FET.

    Regards,

    -Adam
