Blaze Tablet 2, Omap 4470 - Documentation needed.

I have a Blaze Tablet 2 with the 4470.  I was able to obtain the quick start guide that permitted me to get the tablet to boot. ( still working on a few issues, but functional).

I have tried several angles to get in contact with anyone that can get me the full documentation package for this tablet that includes description of board I/O and schematics needed to interface to the tablet.

I have tried to contact through the support at TI for the OMAP Processors and did not get any response.  I understand the documents I am asking for will most likely require a NDA, I still need to contact someone that can get the process started.

Can anyone help me get these documents?  I am in the Chicago, IL area.

Thank you

Tom

  • Hello Tom,

The Blaze Tablet Platform Quick Start User Guide provides enough information to start with Blaze tablet development platform.

If you need Blaze tablet schematics, you should contact SVTRONICS http://www.svtronics.com/omap?product_id=15

I want to notice that we can provide their documents in the e2e forum.

However you can use the following links to obtain information how must configure the software release for this board:

    http://omappedia.org/wiki/4AJ.2.2_OMAP4_Jelly_Bean_Release_Notes - OMAP4 Jelly Bean

    Best regards,

    Yanko

  • Yanko,

Thanks for the reply.   As I said, I have the quickstart guide.  I have since been able to get the board operating using prebuilt binaries as well as my own.  The issue I am working on at the moment is the loading the of wireless drivers.  I am currently debugging this issue using information in the forums and  wiki.

I had already contacted SVTRONICS and received the user guide.  I was also informed the additional documents listed in the user guide and schematics ( I think they are in the document I am looking for), I needed to contact TI and get them via a NDA.

The document I am looking for is:

User manual ( DOC-21019 Blaze Platform HID) for the schematics , hardware, debug information and signals.

    Thank you

    Tom

  • Hello Tom,

Unfortunately, I cannot find such information - User manual (DOC-21019 Blaze Platform HID) for the schematics, hardware, debug information and signals.

I am using the information described in the wikis.

I want notice that it is possible to have issues with wi-fi module on Blaze Tablet.

If you use Android release for Blaze tablet, try to apply following:

    Building Kernel Modules:

    cd ${YOUR_PATH}/kernel/android-3.4
    make ARCH=arm modules 2>&1 |tee ${MYDROID}/logs/kernel_modules.out

    Building WLAN driver WiLink8
    cd ${MYDROID}/hardware/ti/wlan/mac80211/compat_wl18xx
    export KERNEL_DIR=${YOUR_PATH}/kernel/android-3.4
    export KLIB=${KERNEL_DIR}
    export KLIB_BUILD=${KERNEL_DIR}
    make ARCH=arm

The above step will produce the following kernel WLAN modules: compat.ko, cfg80211.ko,
    mac80211.ko, wl18xx.ko, wlcore.ko, wl12xx.ko and wl18xx_sdio.ko.
These modules are pushed into the /system/lib/modules directory on the flashed image.

    shell@android:/system/lib/modules $ ls
    cfg80211.ko
    compat.ko
    gps_drv.ko
    mac80211.ko
    pvrsrvkm_sgx540_120.ko
    pvrsrvkm_sgx544_112.ko
    rproc_drm.ko
    tf_driver.ko
    wl12xx.ko
    wl18xx.ko
    wl7
    wlcore.ko
    wlcore_sdio.ko

    Building WLAN driver WiLink7
    cd ${MYDROID}/hardware/ti/wlan/mac80211/compat_wl12xx
    export KERNEL_DIR=${YOUR_PATH}/kernel/android-3.4
    export KLIB=${KERNEL_DIR}
    export KLIB_BUILD=${KERNEL_DIR}
    make ARCH=arm

To enable WI-Fi on Blaze tablet you must run a small script which is part of the build. Because Blaze table supports
    WiLink7.
    # su
    # wilink7.sh
Could you provide us information about your issues with Wi-Fi modules on your Blaze?
You can send us a log file with issues.

I want to notice, that your problem can be caused by Hardware.

More information about Wi-Fi you can see in: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/wl12xx

  • Yanko,

Thanks for the additional information on the wifi issues.  I had already built all the driver sources for the WiLink7 and WiLink8.  I did not execute the wilink7.sh script.  It now works, Thanks!

  • Yanko,

I have a question on the expansion port 1 - Mobility Connector:   The link referenced for information on TI modules and features is dead:

I wish to identify the features of the currently installed module.  Are other modules available such as the WLAN to connect to the cellular network( note SIM slot on board)?

     Thank you

    Tom

  • Hello Tom,

    About your question:

Are other modules available such as the WLAN to connect to the cellular network ( note SIM slot on board)?

See section 4.2 Selected Internal Features and Functions in your Tablet Quick Start guide:

    Lithium Battery Pack
    Power Control System
    Battery Emulator
    Power Supply Subsystem
    MODEM System
    Modem System (Power, Connections, USB)
    Vibrator Motors
    2 Motors
    Multimedia SIM Card Cage
    Dual voltage (1.8/3/0V) SIM cage.
Internal SD/MMC Card Cage 8-bit, 3.0V dual function port.
    Expansion Port 1
    Warm Reset Switch

About SIM card usage refer to - http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/SmartCard_Implementation_on_OMAPL_PRU_-_Software_Users_Guide

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/SmartCard_Implementation_on_OMAPL_PRU_-_Design_Document#GPIO

See your board configuration in arm/mach-omap2/board-omap/ board-44xx-tablet.c or other blaze tablet files. If SIM card is enabled.

  • Hello ASWIN PP,

I would like note you that in our OMAP forums, we only support official TI's software releases (Android or Linux).

We cannot provide you any type of a support for Windows Embedded.

Please conntact Phytec, they provide Windows releases for OMAP - http://phytec.com/software/windows-embedded/

    Best regards,

    Yanko
