J6 DRA7xx Vayu EVM Revision C1 not booting up consistently

I use the boot switch configuration in GLSDK developers guide. There is no issue with boot with 01000100 10000001

About WI-FI:

• You will need a COM8 WiLink8Q hardware module
• EVM H/W Mod:
  • If you have DRA7xx-EVM boards less than REV-E, you need a mod to get 32KHz clock to COM8 module. Refer here for more details
  • If you have DRA7xx-EVM boards less than REV-F, you need a mod to test BT HFP. Refer here for more details
• SW5 USERCONFIG DIP Switch: Make sure you have the correct DIP switch as mentioned in Flashing section
• Antenna connector details for COM8 module

J2: WLAN/BT 2.4Ghz
J3: WLAN 5Ghz
J8: BT 2.4 Ghz

• Bluetooth: All Bluetooth profiles were tested using Cybercom bluego solution, contact Cybercom for getting access to their solution.

NOTE: Don't use Cybercom App and Android stock Bluetooth (Settings ⇒ Wireless & Metworks ⇒ Bluetooth) together

Thanks for the quick response! I rebuilt u-boot.img and MLO using GLSDK 6.04 commands and copied them to the boot partition of the uSD card. I still see an issue in the boot.

In the attached logs 0167.J6RevC1_bootlog_new_uboot.txt we see that u-boot is throwing up an error regarding SDRAM size. 

Please let me know what else to try.

One more thing regarding the antenna connectors for the COM8Q module. We are interested in 5GHz Wi-Fi operation but are unable to find the J3 connector on our Wi-Fi module (it has only J1,J2, J4 & J8).

I am attaching the pictures of the COM8Q module we have.

Which connector should be used for 5GHz Wi-Fi operation ?

About your problem with u-boot, I think that you must apply some patches:

I suggest you to use my MLO  and u-boot.bin files and test your board. See in the attached file - 1602.U-boot.zip

About WI-FI:

J3 connector is the connector above J4. I think that the white mask on the board is not so clear.

#Q: Which connector should be used for 5GHz Wi-Fi operation?- Please check in COM8Q module datasheet.

I have VAYU EVM revision E2 and I don't have issues with u-boot. I tried your boot switches configuration and the board boots normally. I made a copy of my SD card boot partition in this archive 5700.boot.zip

I saw that U67 device (DDR3 memory) on your board is with different mark on its package. 

Do you have any modifications on your board or changes in boot switches?

I saw that the SPI flash on your board has hardware patches. Have you modified your board?

Hello Anurag,

The DRA7xx device on VAYU EVM revision C1 is socket device.

The reason for your issue might be caused by socket related.

The device may need to be reseated in the socket or socket fitting adjusted. Try to tight the socket on your board.
