Does the OMAP5432 EVM support the LVDS interface LCD?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DSI83

Hi,

I found that the OMAP5432 EVM have two DSI and one HDMI interface, but most of the LCD's interface is LVDS, so, does the OMAP5432 EVM support the LVDS interface LCD, and how can I use the LVDS interface LCD with the OMAP5432 EVM?

Thanks in advanced.

  • Hi Shuhua,

As you've noticed, OMAP4 & OMAP5 don't have a native LVDS support. In order to use your LCD (which has only LVDS interface) you need to add a LVDS-to-DSI bridge in your design.
    For example:

    TI's SN65DSI83 (http://www.ti.com/product/SN65DSI83).

    Toshiba's TC358765 (http://www.toshiba-components.com/mobile/data/Toshiba_TC358764_65XBGA.pdf)

Here are a couple of threads that discus interfacing OMAP4/5 with LVDS-to-DSI bridge:

  • Hi, Yordan

The omap5432 EVM has a DPI interface bus, and I found there is a statement that he connect a RGB LCD to DPI bus on Variscite's SOM4460 successfully, at http://e2e.ti.com/support/omap/f/849/p/234654/826889.aspx#826889.

    Is that possible?
