I would recommend you start with Ubuntu 11.10 and use the ubuntu-omap-extras. We did not have video encoding hardware accelerator before that (i.e. in 10.10) The best place to ask question on Pandaboard is at pandaboard@googlegroups.com It looks like you have already started a thread http://groups...

In general, the usage for SPI interface is identical for BeagleBoard & PandaBoard. I would recommend you to take a look at : http://elinux.org/BeagleBoard/SPI when the procedure and gotcha's are pretty well documented. Hopefully in a few weeks we will pull together a how-to wiki on detailed...

On the panda - in the record path there is one thing you should keep in mind that is documented here: http://omappedia.org/wiki/PandaBoard_FAQ#I_am_not_able_to_record_Audio_using_Mic-in.3F Note: I dont know for sure if the same note applies to Blaze platform.

  • Forum Post: Re: Panda Dithering for 18bit LCD

    Midson Midson
From my understanding, OMAP4 is not designed to support 18bit LCD, like in OMAP3. So the Pin mapping needs to changed as per the fig 17 in Page 19 of the SN75LVDS83B Data sheet (Rev B). Basically the LSB 2bits should be ignored or not be connected. For improved image quality, the OMAP4 should dither...

Thanks Jorge. DISPC is set to LCD2, TFT, STNTFT and Dithering mode are selected. TFTDATALINES are set to 18. But No improvement. With this setting, what I was trying to achieve is, with-out changing the current DSS pin mapping (which was similar to OMAP3) and correcting it thru TDM Cycle setting. But...

If you mean by TI, I don't know what are the plans to support that at user space. My guess is that it is more up to the user/client who wants to integrate it to the prototype/product. All I see is that driver is there in case someone wants to use it.
