HP_REF or MIC_REF for TS3A225E

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3A225E

Hi there,

For the TS3A225E chip, the mic_n is fed into the MIC_REF or HP_REF (not sure which one is correct) input of a codec.

Just wondering how the codec is able to improve the crosstalk performance by 10-15dB.

thanks,
TC

  • My codec has both P&N mic input.  And it also has a pin called "headphone reference ground".  should i connect the mic_n from the switch to the negative terminal of the mic_in of the codec?  or the "headphone reference ground" as suggested on the datasheet?

  • Hello Titusc,

There is an example schematic located in the datasheet for the TS3A225E that should help you with your implementation.  To answer your specific questions:

    • MICN of the TS3A225E should be connected to the headphone ground offset reference pin (or something similar) on the codec.  Usually the codec datasheet will specify that this pin senses the ground offset at the headset.
    • MICP of the TS3A225E should be connected to MICBIAS pullup resistor as shown in the datasheet example example schematic

    Regards,

    Andrew
