DRV8662EVM: Input PWM with high frequency

Part Number: DRV8662EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8662

Hello, I was wondering if an input PWM with high frequency (30-40k) can be used to drive the haptic driver. From the technical doc, it is recommended to use a low pass filter before a PWM can be used which would limit it to only low frequency applications. Thanks for your help!

  • Hello Karun,

welcome to E2E Forum and thank you for posting your question!

If you take a look in the data sheet of the device DRV8662, you will find this table on the page 5:

Here you can see that the op amp inside of the device has a bandwidth limitation, depending on the voltage/gain you are operating with.

Theoretically, you could use this device with higher frequencies, but then your voltage gain will go down and, eventually, become unity.

    Best regards,

    Marko

  • Thanks Marco for clearing that!

Do you recommed other piezo drivers from TI, suitable for higher frequencies?

  • Hey Karun,

Unfortunately, at the moment we do not have piezo drivers that would be suitable for higher frequencies. We have some new devices on our road map, but I am not sure if those will be more suitable for higher frequencies.

    Best regards,
    Marko
