DRV2625: question about the initialization procedure - Datasheet error?

Part Number: DRV2625

We are using the DRV2625 haptic driver and have a question about the initialization procedure. On page 63 of the datasheet, step 3 in the initialization procedure states “Write the MODE parameter (address 0x01) to value 0x00 to remove the device from standby mode.”

I find this statement very confusing since address is 0x01 is a read-only status register (see page 36) and the MODE parameter is in address 0x07 (see page 39).

Can you provide some clarification of this statement?

  • Hey Jay,

This one is weird, you are right. The MODE parameter is a different address as you stated and, on top of that, writing anything into it won't remove device from a standby mode, it still needs a trigger for that.

I will check this one with my colleague and try it out if necessary, but for now I would consider this statement very questionable. He will be back on Tuesday and we ll try to give you an answer as soon as possible!

    Best regards,
    Marko
  • Hi Jay,

This is a typo in the datasheet. Please ignore this step. The device has an automatic go-to-standby state. The device will come out of standby to play a waveform and then enter standby at the end of the waveform. There is no control for putting the device into standby mode.
