DRV2605: Asking for the DRV2506 setting suggestion for calibration's vibration strength too strong

Hi Team,

We are being reported that the strength of the vibration during the auto-calibration procedure is too strong.
Is it possible to reduce the vibration during the calibration time, but still ensure that the haptics feeling is still strong when the go bit is triggered after calibration complete?

    Hello,

    The customer should adjust the od clamp register (0x17). During closed-loop operation, the actuator feedback allows the output voltage go above the rated voltage during the automatic overdrive and automatic braking periods. The OD_CLAMP[7:0] bit (in Register 0x17) sets a clamp so that the automatic overdrive is bounded. The OD_CLAMP[7:0] bit always represents the maximum peak voltage that is allowed.

    The customer should reference the equation in section 7.5.2.2 of the datasheet to get an idea of the value, and then lower it from there until they achieve the desired strength during auto-calibration. Adjusting this register will set a boundary for the maximum voltage before and after calibration, so it will affect both the auto calibration procedure and normal operation. It is possible to reduce the vibration strength during calibration to the vibration strength of normal operation, but not lower. In other words, the vibration strength for calibration and normal operation can be the same, but they cannot set the device so that the calibration procedure vibration is weaker than normal operation. This is because during calibration, the device will operate up to the maximum voltage set by OD_CLAMP.
