DRV2700: DRV2700EVM firmware update fails

Part Number: DRV2700

I have a new DRV2700EVM.

I installed the Piezo Console.  I could select "DRV2700EVM" in the Console menu and I get a GUI window marked "DRV2700EVM -- Simulator"

The board did appear in the USB window and if I clicked "connect" the status in the "Connection" box changed to USB-HID.  However, the GUI window continued to say "Simulator" and I could not interact with the board.

Then, following forum advice I tried to update the firmware.  I guess you have to hold down switch SW1 to get to the boot loader.  I did this, but the firmware update process failed as you can see in the screen shot.  I think the device is now partially "bricked" as it does not enumerate as any USB device unless I hold down SW1 to get the boot loader back.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi Eric,

I do not see any screenshot in your post; please upload it again. When the device firmware is uploaded correctly you should see something like the image below and then when you click connect there will be a "-- USBHID" instead of "-- simulator." The USB box should still have the EVM name in it.

To update the firmware hold the SW1 button, plug in the EVM, and then go to Help -> firmware update.

  • I solved the problem by moving to a different computer.

This is puzzling as both computers are running the same OS and both have other working USB peripherals.  Oh well!

  • Hi Eric,

Are you using Windows 10 OS? Windows 10 isn't currently supported because of some driver issues that we are trying to fix. I'm glad you got it working though. Let us know if you have any other questions.
