DRV2605: DRV2605 Immersion License Contact

Dear TI Team,

I want to use DRV2605.

We know that the DRV2605 includes an Immersion Licensor fee.

We would like to use the DRV2605 to use the immersion library provided by TI to ensure that there are no patent issues.

We understand that DRV2605 is not a patent issue.

Please answer.

    Hi Chun,

    When you use the DRV2605/DRV2605L/DRV2625 devices, the Immersion license for the ROM waveform library(or libraries) is paid for in the price of the device. You do not need to pay additional fees to Immersion. We provide the IC and how the user interfaces with the device are up to the customer. You could refer section 11.1 Legal Notice of DRV2605 for license information.

    thank you for answering.

    But the data shown in 11.1 of the data sheet is ambiguous.
    What we want to know for sure is:
    1. When using the DRV2605, make sure that there is no legal problem when using the immersion library provided by TI.
    2. Use DRV2605 to make waveforms yourself and make sure that there are no legal problems when using them.

    Two things must be sure that we can design the DRV2605.
    Please reply.

    Hi Chun,

    1) The immersion license fee is included in the price of the DRV2605's IC.
    2) If you use DRV2605, then you will have 123 immersion licensed waveforms at your disposal.

    You won't have any legal problem if you use the immersion libraries with DRV2605.
