DRV2625: Diagnostics and Calibration both failed

Part Number: DRV2625

Dear TI Experts,

My customer is debugging DRV2625 in their own board, basic function is OK, however, there is error when Diagnostics and Calibration. Both case will return Reg01=0x88.

Could you kindly give some advice about this issue? Thanks a lot.

Attached is inear resonant actuator sepc, below is register parameter when calibration.

  • Hi Bruce,

The setting for register 0x2A = 0x03 indicated using the Trigger controlled auto-calibration method. Do they need to use the trigger control method? If so, are they running the auto-cal for >1000ms? To use the trigger mode for auto-cal, you need to run the calibration for >1000ms. I suggest changing this to 0x01 or 0x02.
It looks like for 260Hz, reg1F = 0x3D = 1.7Vrms for rated voltage and reg20 = 0x75 = 2.4Vp for overdrive clamp. We typically recommend the overdrive clamp be above the rated voltage. In this case they are set about equal. I would suggest setting reg20 = 2.6Vp = 7E. This is 1.85Vrms*sqrt(2). Datasheet lists 1.85Vrms as max voltage range.
  • Hi Kelly,

I'm the customer. Thanks for your answer, i used the trigger controlled auto-calibration method and running about 2000ms.

I tried as you suggest, but failed.

below is register parameter when calibration

there is error when Diagnostics too, the R(act) is valid Calculate by DIAG_ Z _RESULT and CURRENT _K

    Regards,
    Bin

  • Dear Kelly,
Thanks a lot for your support, Bin is my customer, he has replied the test result , could you kindly help to review it? Thanks again.
  • Hi Bin, did you also try using 500ms or 1000ms auto-calibtaion times?
  • Hi Kelly, i think I've solved the problem.
The problem may be due to the instability caused by motor vibration, All I need to do is fix it and DRV2625 will work well.

Thank you very much for answering this question.

    Best Regards,
    Bin
