DRV2605L: Rated Voltage, Overdrive Clamp Voltage

Part Number: DRV2605L

hello

we use DRV2605L to drive LRA.

If the DRV2605L's VDD is powered from 3V to 4.2V, what is the suggested value of rated Voltage( RATED_VOLTAGE[7:0] bit) and overdrive clamp Voltage( OD_CLAMP[7:0] bit)?

In Equation 5, what is the relationship between  VDD, V(LRA-CL_RMS) and rated voltage?

and also  VDD and Oeverdrive clamp Voltage?

Automatic-Level Calibration process always fails,  how to check and correct it?

Thanks

  • Hi Jesse,

The max output voltage from our driver is ~VDD-0.3V. The Rated_Voltage (Vrms) and Overdrive_Clamp (Vpeak) should be set according to the LRA you are using. There should be a suggested rated voltage in the LRA datasheet, typically defined in Vrms . The Overdrive_Clamp can be set to 1.5*Rated_Voltage, but make sure you convert Rated_Voltage from RMS to Vpeak value.

In equation 5, V(LRA-CL_RMS) is the Rated_Voltage in Closed-Loop with units of V_RMS. There is no relationship with VDD except if the Rated_Voltage is greater than the VDD setting, then the output will be limitted by VDD. Same with Overdrive_Clamp.

There are multiple reasons why the auto-calibration can fail.. Please make sure the settings are correct and the actuator is properly mounted to a mass.

  • Hi Kelly
    Thanks for your support!
The mass you said is the PCB Board ?
  • Hi Jesse,

The mass just needs to be ~50grams. The PCB should be sufficient.
