need guidence in powering of Tx_Sdk_V1 EVM

hi,
I have some doubts in powering the EVM.
1) J_SUB pin at 1-2 position to minimize power supplies, then what is power on sequence?
I think power on sequence -50v ,1.8v, 3.3v , +/-10v. +50v,  am I right ?
but here -50v powered on early is there will be any problem, since the original power on sequence Vsub, 1.8v, 3.3v , +/-10v. +/- 50v.
2) when J_SUB pin at 2-3 position, V sub should be most -ve or atleast equal to -50v so could I use Vsub= -50v.
3) to generate pulses at pulser out put we are giving +/- 50v , I want generate <50v pulses (15v or 20v) Is possible with this evm? To do that how much voltage needs to be given at Vsub, +/-50v bannana pins.

4) With out giving power supplies(Vsub, +/-50v and etc..), Just I connected opal kelly board and transmit solution to the PC. Then is it possible to connect through the GUI, That is clicking on the connect button in GUI. I am facing error so is it possible to connect GUI with out all power supplies or with some power supplies?

thank you.

chandu.
  • Hi,

Please some body who knows about Tx_sdk_v1 powering answer to my questions. It is usefull and urgent for me.

    thank you.

    regards,

    chandu.

  • Hi Chandu,

Sorry for the late response. I was on vacation.

    1) If J_SUB pin is at 1-2 position, you should power up -50V, 3.3V, 1.8V, +/-10V,  and then +50V.

    2) Technically yes. But we should recommend when the LM96551 outputs are connected to the transducer since the output can overshoot the +/-50V supply by 10% or so; i.e., the output voltage can be at -55V even if VNN is at -50V.

    3) If you want to outputs to be at 15V or 20V, then just apply 15V to 20V to VPP & |VNN|.

    4) Yes, you can apply a 3.3V to the TX_SDK board and the then click on connect button.

I hope I answer you questions clearly.

    Charles

  • Hi  sir,

    Thanks for valuable information.

If you don't mind let me confirm again about the 4th answer in last reply.

By giving single 3.3v to  the Tx solution board Is it possible to GUI connected to the board.

    thank you very much sir.

    chandu.

  • Hi Chandu,

Yes, you can communicated the Opal Kelly board with the TX_SDK board.

  • Hi Charles,

I am also using TX_SDK_V1. I see your reply in 2013.

"2) Technically yes. But we should recommend when the LM96551 outputs are connected to the transducer since the output can overshoot the +/-50V supply by 10% or so; i.e., the output voltage can be at -55V even if VNN is at -50V."

Do you mean if VNN is -50V, since the output can overshoot the +-50V supply by 10% or so, we'd better provide VSUB with -55V or even -60V?

In my case, I don't have +-50V supply, I only have +-48V. Can I provide TX_SDK_V1 with +-48V instead of +-50V and connect VSUB to -48V?

And for +-10V supply, is it a MUST for +10V and -10V to turn on simutaneously? Can I turn on +10V first and -10V one second later?

    Thank you.

    Frank
  • Hi Frank,

Yes, the output can overshoot more than 10% if you are connecting it to the transducer. When that happens, we recommend VSUB to be 10% (depending on the overshoot) lower than VNN.

Yes, you can turn on +10V first and the -10V one second later.

    Charles
