regarding AFE 5809 evm with TSW1400

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5809

Hi,

I am working with AFE 5809 EVM and TSW 1400 to acquire the digitized samples of 8-channel echo signals. Which are further processed in matlab for imaging. The reflected echo signal from transducer are given to AFE5809 and collected the samples in excel sheet for 8 individual channels. Here the AFE in default settings, But the noise echo signal at input and output signal observed in matlab are same. no filtering was happened, and LPF  default setting is 10Mhz.

Above pictures illustrates the echo signal and frequency spectrum, shows that 10Mhz frequencies are also present in the signal. And also I tried using on board digital TGC which is of no help in getting time gain compensated output. So help me in modifying the defaults operation to be able get TGC and filtering and more if any.

Please help me to be able to process the echo signal for perfect imaging.

  • Chandu,

1.Is there a singe tone sine generator that you can use to test this with?  I can't see how you would not get a filtered signal on the output of the AFE.

2.What is the resonant frequency of your transducer?

3.How did you capture the input signal and then compute in Matlab?

4.Can you change the LPF Settings to higher and see if there is a difference?

    Thanks,

  • Hi sir,

    1.  Yes, I have a sine generator, suggest me, how do i test with.

    2. Resonant freq of transducer is 3.5 Mhz.

    3.  We have designed the customized boards for transmit section of front module. which having lm 96570 beamformer, pulser, switch. The o/p of switch (echo signals)  are connected to AFE i/p using SMA connectors. The data samples are acquired as .csv file from GUI of TSW 1400 board.

    4. I have tried the LPF settings (10, 15, 20, 30 Mhz) but no use.  Still the noise above 10 Mhz is exists. Here the .csv file with 8 channel data samples are processed for spectrum analyzing.

Please help me sir.  Thank you.

  • Hi Chandu,

First, I just want to prove that the LPF is working.  I misunderstood and thought you were using the AFE5809 EVM.  Do you still have access the AFE inputs via SMA?  If so, can we set the LPF to 10MHz and use the signal generator to input a sine wave to the AFE at 5,15, and 20MHz .  We should see the fundamental power diminish after 10MHz.  What samplig frequency are you using?

    Thanks,

    Chuck Smyth

  • Hi Chandu,

Was there any progress on this?  Can you tell if the filter is working correctly?

    Thanks,
