Part no. for RF to Sma connector

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5809EVM, AFE5809

Hi,

We bought TxSDKV2 EVM along with AFE5809EVM and TSW1400 EVM. We received 1 set of Samtec RF to SMA cable along with TxSDKV2 Package. The part no. of the above said cable is not mentioned in the Bill of Materials or anywhere in the documentation available. Can you please provide me the exact information (Samtec Part no.) of the cable as soon as possible?

Also, we need SMA male to SMA male cables(50 ohm) to interconnect these boards. When we tried to buy these cables, we found a lot of varieties such as RG316, RG402 etc..Can you help me to find the right SMA cable ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Fathima.

  • Hi Fathima,

    The Samtec connect is  GRF1-P-C-08-0100-C1-S-S

    See http://d2a072wq521u33.cloudfront.net/catalog_english/grf1-c.pdf

    1258.grf1-c-2.pdf

You can order it from http://avnetexpress.avnet.com/store/em/EMController?term=GRF1-P-C-08-0100-C1-S-S&x=14&y=9&action=products&langId=-1&storeId=500201&catalogId=500201&hbxSType=&N=0&filterButton=true

As you can see the the cable is RG316.

    Charles

  • Fathima,

RG-58 is also acceptable, like this:

  • Hi,

I thank both of you for your replies.

    Regards,

    Fathima

  • Hi,

When we contacted Samtec along with the pics of connectors obtained with TX-SDK-V2  for buying the connectors specified by Charles, they told that GRF1-P-C-08-0100-C1-S-S is not the part no of the connector in the image. In the datasheet also, we can see that both the ends of GRF1-P-C-08-0100-C1-S-S is RF type and one of the end is not SMA.

Samtec replied that the part no. of the connector shown in the image is GRF1H-8-0100-1-CA1-S-01SP1

Kindly tell the right connector that comes with TX_SDK-V2 kit . I am attaching a photo of the connector that I obtained along with the package.

    Regards,

    Fathima

  • Hi Fathima,

I ask the original person who order the connector. Below is the email from him. I don't know if they change the part number or not.

We went to SamTec's website, and the connector should be GRF1H-8-0100-1-CA1-S-01BJ1 (please check the different between 01BJ and 01SP on page 5 of the attach datasheet).

  • Hi Fathima,

We will order very soon a TX-SDK-V2 with AFE5809EVM and TSW1400EVM.

I was searching on the forum for some informations about required cables and saw your topic. As you are currently using the same configuration, I wonder if you figured out what are these required supplementary cables ?

I guess that we have to :

    - Connect the TX-SDK-V2 (T/R Switch) with the AFE5809EVM
    - Connect the AFE5809EVM with the TSW1400EVM

    - Connect the TSW1400EVM with the TX-SDK-V2

    - Connect the TX-SDK-V2 with the PC

So at least four connections, maybe more.

As we don't have the tools in hand, it's really difficult to know what we have to order. Therefore it would be really awesome if you have some informations to share.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Yorick

  • Yorick,

The AFE-TSW connection is direct and requires no cables.

The input to the AFE5809 is eight disrete female SMA connectors (requires eight cables).

    Thanks,

  • I think another side looks like MCX male for RG316 cable, is it?
