some questions about LM98620

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM98620

Hi,

My customer is using LM98620 on ATM project, now there are some questions need you comment.

  1. When OVBP is active low, is LM98620 still workable? Can registers be configured by SPI?

  2. How to connect CLPIN, BLKCLP, BLKCLP if not used?

  3. On datasheet figure7, ch1(n), ch2(n) output after tLAT(1) of Pixel(n), the question is if Pixel ch1(n) will hold 2 Txclk1 as well as Pixel ch2(n)?

Best Regards

  • Hello Sean,

Here are responses to your questions:

1 Yes, the LM98620 can still be configured using SPI with OVPB is active low. The OVPB only protects the OS  inputs against overvoltage. The LM98620 SPI still functions.

2 If it’s not being used, CLPIN should have an external pull-down to ground, since there isn’t any internal one on this pin. Note that in all sampling modes other than SH3, the CLPIN signal is needed to set the internal AFEPHASE signal. If you are using the SH3 mode, then it may be OK to not use CLPIN. For all other modes, you should have a timing signal connected to the CLPIN input.

3  Assuming 6 channel mode is in use, the AFE has 6 inputs. There are CH1 and CH2 for each of R, G and B. Referring to Figure 33 and Table 10 we see that for each TXCLK, there are 10 R bits, 10 G bits and 10 B bits, plus some GP bits with additional information from the GPI inputs. To get all 6 channels worth of data output, we therefore need 2 TXCLK cycles. On the first TXCLK cycle we get R1, G1, B1. On the next TXCLK cycle we get R2, G2, B2. Figure 7 is showing this, with the Ch1 data coming out at tLAT(1) and the Ch2 data coming out at tLAT(2). The data for each Ch number is only there for 1 TXCLK, not 2 TXCLK as the customer is stating.

  • Hooman,

    Thanks you comment.

How to connect BLKCLP, BLKCLP pin if them not used?

  • Hi Sean,
If not being used, these inputs can be left floating.

  • Hooman,

More question it is about LM98620 timing,
In SH2a Mode, the MAX value of tMCS_MIN is 15.5ns for full temperature range as description in datasheet,
does it means that tMCS_MIN must be set larger than 15.5ns for full temperature range?

Customer feedback Sample and Hold high duration will impact image, what's the type high duration for sample and hold?

    Best Regards
