LM98714: LM98714 - Mode Selection Query

Part Number: LM98714
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM98725, LM98722

Hi,

I am trying to interface a CIS sensor which has 3 output channels. Each color is distributed among these 3 output channels i.e if total pixel count is 1500, Pixel 0-499 output is available on Output Channel 1, 499-999 is available on Output Channel 2 and 999-1499 is available on output channel 3 and all these channels are output simultaneously.

To get RGB color, I will have to turn on the Red LED, obtain all pixels red intensity available on 3 output channels then switch off Red LED then switch on Green LED and continue looping.

Since pixel information is distributed on all channels I will have to use Mode 3, since this is the only mode in which pixels are sampled from all 3 channels simultaneously.

I will also have to control the lamp turn on/off, and start looping after each line. To do this, AFE provides 3 line color sequencing to switch on/off LED's w.r.t SH pulse which is detailed in Figure 42 and Page number 46 in the datasheet.

My Questions -

1. Can we use this 3 color sequencing in Mode 3? Is this a valid combination or is 3 color sequence is applicable only for Mode 1a?

2. If 3 color sequencing is not possible in Mode 3, then does this AFE make sense to use in this application and if not is there any other AFE suitable for this?

Regards,

Mithun
