Hi guys,

I've been using the LM35 for my temp sensing applications and it's great.. but it needs 4V min to function.  This sensor is voltage independent and will output a stable temperature.

I have a cc2530 powered by 2x AA batteries and need to interface with a temperature sensor that is similar to LM35. It needs to be not sensitive to power supply and work on a low voltage.

what have you guys used with great success? +-0.5C is OK

    Hi Rob,

    Have you look into LM57? I think it is a good candidate for your application. The device has a wide temperature range of -50°C to 150°C, and the power supply range is 2.4V to 5.5V. The accuracy of the temperature (Vtemp) is ±0.7°C.

    Thanks for the suggestion Aaron..  I'm looking for something that I can solder to my pcb pads .. it will also stick out of the enclosure so it's not being affected by any heating inside the box.

    any other ideas using thermistors or a TO92 package?

    Hi Rob,

    Unfortunately, we do not have any other precision temperature sensor with TO-92 package. We have the LM135A thermistor in TO-46; however, the accuracy is ±2.7°C.

    The TMP36 looks pretty awesome.. works at 2.7V with stable temperature output ..  the IC version actually has a SHUTDOWN pin to kill any power consumption..

    unfortunately the TO-92 package doesn't have the shutdown pin ...

    what's the strategy for reading sensors on a sensor node.  is there a way to prevent the sensor from constantly draining current and only turning 'on' when a sample is taken ??
