Need Standalone Fan Controller like Microchip TC652

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP302

Hello,

I have an application where there is no micro in the design, but I need a simple fan controller IC. Basically sense the temperature and control the fan accordingly. The Microchip TC652 looks like what I need but this is an old part, and I was hoping that there's something available from TI. To be clear, I cannot use one that requires SMBus or I2C or any digital control - this product will be standalone.

  • Hi Derek,

Not sure if your system can use a temperature switch such as TMP302, but if you want simple this might be an option.  Using a TMP302 + FET can allow for simple On/Off control of a fan.  The temperature set point is pin selected as well as is hysteresis.  It is designed to be used in systems where there is no microprocessor and works from a 3.3v power supply.

  • Hello,

I'm looking for something that can control the fan speed in proportion to the temperature, like the microchip part.
