Hi - struggling to get any info in the UK from the distribution network as to which product may be the current recommended 4-wire controller for automotive spec apps which ideally is available in dev-kit form with USB connectivity? Any info greatly appreciated. Also, is connection to the serial possible outside of the supplied GUI so that demos can be created in my own apps? Had issues with some other brands that make it very difficult to do that with no protocol information available for the serial data/handshaking etc.

Many thanks. Apologies for the longwinded post...

    Hello Phil,

The majority touch screen controller  or TSC devices currently from TI is for 4-wire resistive touch screens, which you can find at

     http://focus.ti.com/paramsearch/docs/parametricsearch.tsp?family=analog&familyId=636&uiTemplateId=NODE_STRY_PGE_T

In the list, all TSCs are for single touch, except TSC2020 (a multi-touch TSC); and all are for 4-wire resistive touch panel except for ADS7845 (a 5-wire resistive  TSC).

All of these interface to a microprocessor by I2C or SPI serial bus. And the most of the TSC EVM-PDK can be connected with a Windows-based PC through USB; and we also have some Windows or Linux OS drivers on some microprocessors that helps users to insert the touch device drivers into their OS system.

You may take a look into the above devices and feel free to ask if there is further question!

    Regards,
    Wendy F.

Thanks Wendy - I got myself a TSC2007EVM kit and have it working in the GUI fine. Is there any guidance anywhere on how to connect and read the serial data outside of the GUI into custom demo apps of my own? Many thanks.

    Hello Phil,

Did the user's guide of the EVM-PDK answer your question, or you need something else? May you send me a block diagram of your system and where you hope the TSC is at so that I can provide my suggestion?

    Regards,
    Wendy F.
