ADS7846 lifetime part info

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSC2046E

I am wondering where I find obsolescence info for this part, if I include this part in my design, when would I expect it to be discontinued by the manufacturer. Where can I find this info for other TI parts. Digikey does not have this info.

  • Steven,

For new designs, we recommend TSC2046E with extended ESD protection.

  • Thank you for your quick response, but  I did not get an answer to my question. Could I get lifetime info for these parts?

  • Steven,

ADS7846E, ADS7846E/2K5, ADS7846N, ADS7846N/2K5 are available in production. Free samples are avaible for ADS7846E and ADS7846N via our website: http://www.ti.com/product/ads7846/samplebuy. Digikey shows stock available for larger reel sizes.

Pls let us know details of Customer, application, industry and we will happy to help.

    Regards, Arthi

  • Customer: If you want to look up my company name on my info you can, I'd prefer not to post it here for privacy reasons. If you want I can send you the info if you give me some contact info.

    Application: Instrumentation Touch Screen

    Industry: Scientific Instrumentation

One problem we have had in the past is parts go obsolete and we don't know when. This is a problem because on  some of our products we make a design with a part that is currently in production, then later on the company pulls the part (this is why were looking for a part right now). Then we have to spend time and money to come up with a replacement board, this happens more often then you would think all it takes is one part that doesn't have a drop in replacement. I need to know how long the parts will remain on the shelf Linear Tech offers a guarantee (something like 5 years after the part is made obsolete, you can still order it). I don't expect this, but I do expect to know when the part will be made obsolete so I can decide if I want to include the part in the design or not.
