Is it possible to use TSC2007 without IRQ?

Hi all,

We're planning to use an TSC2007 controled by i2c from HDMI output, the problem is that there is no IRQ line avaible on HDMI, so, is it possible to use TSC2007 by pure polling? And what would be the performance expected? Should it be usable?

We're running on Linux (arm7) platform, so I don't expect polling in less than 10ms, would this be a problem?

Hi Daniel,

Yes, I think it is possible but it is not recommended. If the polling time is large than 10ms, the polling rate will be less than 100Hz. I believe you can still achieve an acceptable performance with that polling rate.

Thank you Andy!

Applying IRQ will need hardware routing so we'll go with poll right now for demosntrations propouses using the hardware we already have, then do the hardware routing and configure the driver to use IRQ.

What would be a fine polling rate? On our application we have no drag-and-drop stuff, only pointing and clicking so would be unusual to get touch stressed.

Hi Daniel,

I suggest you try a polling rate 100Hz at the beginning. If there is nothing wrong with pointing and clicking, then try an even lower polling rate, such as 80Hz.
