TSC2004: What is the rectangle mark placed near by No.1 pin on QFN package of TSC2004?

Part Number: TSC2004

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using TSC2004 for their next products. Then they had several questions about QFN package (RTJ) of the device as the follow.

Ques: On page 5 in the device datasheet, we can see one rectangle mark between No.1 and 20 pin on QFN package in PIN CONFIGURATION section.

Q1. Is the rectangle placed on the top side of the package? Or the bottom side same as other pins?

Q2. Is the rectangle printed by some ink? Or is it any metal not ink?

Q3. If the rectangle is placed on the bottom side and it is metal, is it connected to any internal node? For examle, AGND or DGND node.

Q4. Is any PCB land pattern needed to be prepared for the rectangle connection?

Q5. If Q4 answer is Yes, which node must the land pattern be connected to?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya Nakai.

  • Kazuya,

The rectangular mark between pins 1 and 20 is a visual reference to help orient the part; it is a printed mark on the top side of the package and does not serve an electrical purpose or make any electrical connection. Dimensions on the QFN pin layout for PCB footprints can be found on pages 55-57 on the TSC2004 datasheet.
