Part Number: TSC2007
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSC2017

Hello,

Our customer use the TSC2007, have a question.

Does the TSC2007 respond the General Call Reset?

The customer want to reset the TSC2007 through I2C Bus.

Best Regards,

Naoki Aoyama

  • Sorry for the delay here Naoki, has your customer had any luck with the general call address on the TSC2007?
  • Hello Tom,

    Thank you for your reply.
There is no mention the TSC2007 respond general call reset on the datasheet.
So the customer ask me does the TSC2007 respond general call.
Because the TSC2007 does not have RESET pin, the customer reset the device
    using I2C bus.

    Regards,
    Naoki Aoyama
  • Naoki,

Apologies for the delay - this is taking some time to figure out as it is an old part and we are trying to pull up the original design RTL.

I did confirm that the part will respond to a General Call - as it is common for all I2C devices.

However, I still have to check and see if a s/w reset can be done via I2C.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Regards
    Ajit
  • Naoki,

I was able to get the information you are requesting - it took some time to collect all relevant design/ application details.

Unfortunately, the TSC2007 does *not* have a software reset.

Any TSC2007 customer will have to meet the POR requirements stated in the data sheet page 31.

Please read the application note that specifically refers to the TSC2007:
Important Considerations to Assure a Safe POR (www.ti.com/.../sbaa161)

Finally, are you using the WCSP version of the device?
Ti will recommend any new customer (or existing customer reworking their platform) which can use WCSP devices should be encouraged to look into TSC2017.
The TSC2017 was designed after the issues we saw with the TSC2007 POR requirements (which made us release the above App Note).
In TSC2017 we replaced A1 with RESETn and it has an additional software reset.

Hope this helps. Please click the button that the issue was resolved, so i know that this addresses your question.

    Thanks
    Ajit
