TSC2004: Questions about the PSM bit of Configuration Register 0

Part Number: TSC2004

Dear Support team,

Our customer will use TSC2004 in their application.
Please answer some questions about the function of the PSM bit.

Q1:
Please tell me the delay time from when touch-on is detected until the PSM bit is set to 1.

Q2:
On the operation of the PSM bit during the Detecting Touch period after Preprocessing for Y Coordinate,
will the PSM bit be cleared to 0 during screen capacity precharge operation?
(Please refer to attached figure 40.)

Q3:
When touch-off occurs at the timing shown in Figure 40, will not the Z1 Coordinate and Z2 Coordinate process be executed?
After that, will the latest conversion data be read out for X-Data and Y-Data?
(Please refer to attached figure 40.)

Best Regards,
Hiroaki Masumoto

  • We are looking into this, and will get back to you soon, Regards Cynthia

  • Hiroaki Masumoto,

Sorry for the delay on this. I am working with the development team to answer your questions. I will try to have an answer by Monday.

    Best regards,
  • Hiroaki,

The answers to your question are below in red.

    Q1:
Please tell me the delay time from when touch-on is detected until the PSM bit is set to 1.  PSM will be set one clock cycle after on-touch is detected.  About 300ns

    Q2:
On the operation of the PSM bit during the Detecting Touch period after Preprocessing for Y Coordinate,
will the PSM bit be cleared to 0 during screen capacity precharge operation?
No. PSM is not cleared by this operation.  PSM will be cleared when off-touch occurs.

(Please refer to attached figure 40.)

    Q3:
When touch-off occurs at the timing shown in Figure 40, will not the Z1 Coordinate and Z2 Coordinate process be executed?  If off-touch occurs, as you show in the figure, the Z coordinate process will not be executed and the X and Y data will not be updated. The X and Y data will contain the old values.

After that, will the latest conversion data be read out for X-Data and Y-Data?  No. The X and Y data will contain the old values.
(Please refer to attached figure 40.)
