I recommend focusing on 3-wire mode. You pull CS (chip select) low and connect 3 signals to your MCU: clock, data in and data out.

You can find numerous examples on setting up SPI with MSP430 Launchpad but I recommend looking into examples from MSP430Ware. If you have CCSv5 you probably already have it. Just press View --> TI Resource Explorer --> MSP430ware --> Devices --> MSP430G2xx --> Code Examples --> MSP430G2x53. You will find there sample SPI projects msp430g2xx3_uscia0_spi_09, msp430g2xx3_uscia0_spi_10.

If you will have troubles setting your SPI you can always use Grace.

TSC2046 datasheet is your best friend here. You will find control byte description there as well as other information related to data format.

This thread might be useful http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp430/f/166/t/102458.aspx
However, TSC2020's ADC speed is very high for touch applications and also, as I mentioned before, we had used a TSC2020 to control a 12x20 panel with very reasonable response speed. I may calculate the touch data throughout rate specifically for your system if you provide me the TSC2020 setup values.

(2) TSC2020 and host processor interface speed: it can be the main reason because: the more touches on the touch panel, the more touch data have to be moved from the TSC to the host. Does the host read data length depends on the number of touches? What is your I2C speed mode?

(3) At any time moment, if there are 4 simultaneous touches that forms a straight-rectangle, the data reading from the corresponding 4 segments will be outside their ranges, as described in the email I sent to you this morning. If the host processor simply throw away such data, there will be no response during the period, and results in slower response.

Hope the above helps and please feel free to ask as you need!

Best regards,
Wendy F.

Forum Post: RE: How to measure the acceleration of the ERM/LRA on the DRV2605 evalutaion module?

Nancy,

To measure acceleration, I would use an off the shelf accelerometer with 3-16G range of acceleration. Here is a link to an accelerometer from SparkFun.

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9269

Thanks,
Brian

Forum Post: RE: AD7843 and auxiliary inputs

Solution is to use HWMON system in Linux.

ADS7856 driver has addtional interfaces in HWMON. in /sys file system it creates 2 files in0_input and in1_input.
