BQ78350: Overcharge Protection is detected in my gauge, but the remaining capacity and the full charge capacity are the same.

Part Number: BQ78350

In the user manual,  I  notice that the OC protection is tripped when the remaining capacity >= the  full charge capacity + OC : threshold.

The parameter, OC  threshold , is default.

But the remaining capacity and the  full charge capacity are the same in the  bqstudio.

Why?

  • hi Feiyue,

I wanted to let you know that your post has been assigned to one of our applications engineers. This week takes place our annual Battery Management Deep Dive event for which all our engineers are all hands on deck. He will be able to your post early next week, once this event is over.

You can check out recordings of much of the material we present at www.ti.com/deepdive

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Best regards,
    David

  • Hi Feiyue,

Remaining Capacity will never report higher than Full Charge Capacity in the device registers. However, internally it is tracked to higher values to protect against over charge.

    Best regards,
    Matt
