Part Number: BQ28Z610

Hi,

Question 1 :  According to BQ28z610 Technical Reference Guide SLUUA65C  Chapter 4 Advanced Charge Algorithm , can we program bq28z610 according to battery profile ? If yes, How?

Question 2 : According to the technical reference guide SLUUA65C , BQ28Z610 provide ChargeCurrent() for Constant Current and ChargeVoltage for Constant Voltage, could you guide me how to get these values from bq28z610?

I would like to program the following profile :

Thanks and best regards,

  • Hi Redwood,

All you need to do here is to set the currents and voltages as you have shown in the example. I think the image explains itself. However, please use hysteresis of 1C at least to prevent rapid switching at thresholds.

    Batt.

I have asked two questions above labeled as 1 and 2. Could you not deviate? Can we focus on the questions? If you have suggestions, could you explain step by step?

This is a GAUGE device. It does not regulate the current. The current is regulated in the charger. Am I missing something?

    Hi,

    I am CONFUSED!

    My question was :

Question 2 : According to the technical reference guide SLUUA65C , BQ28Z610 provide ChargeCurrent() for Constant Current and ChargeVoltage() for Constant Voltage, could you guide me how to get these values from bq28z610?

The answer I got is :

""""All you need to do here is to set the currents and voltages as you have shown in the example"""

My Comment:  These are READ registers.  The answer says "All you need to do here is to set the currents and voltages as you have shown in the example. "

    I am really confused!!!!!!

You are asking me to """"WRITE""""" to registers which are defined as """"""READ"""""""  registers in the datasheet.?

Is this correct? Am I missing something? Did you read the related section in the datasheet?

    Hi Redwood,

The section you need to look at is the advanced charge algorithm. For your case, let's say you write T1,T2, T5, T6, T3., T4 as 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. Then set charge voltage low, med, high to 2900, 3600, 4000. Then for each LT, STL, ST, STH, HT, RT set charging voltage to 4200 with Current low, med, high set to 100, 200, 300mA. Then for eg, at 32C at 3600mV your range is at T5-T6, CVM. Therefore your charging voltage is set to 4200 and current to 200mA.

These two values can be then read from the charging current and charging voltage register.

    Regards,

    Batt.
