BQ24650: bq24650

Part Number: BQ24650

. can you suggest from where can i get more information about reverse current from the motor and how to protect. 2. can i use bq24650 in boost mode. 3. pin 4 TS is meant for temperature compensation. i want to use this pin to fix operating point, max power point, temperature varies from 10 deg C to 45 deg C. my max power point is 19v at 25 deg c and 17.2 at 40 deg C. i want to change this operating point wrt temperature how can i fix this temperature window.

  • Questions are duplication of your previous post. I have already replied to your questions in your previous post.

  • Point 3 is misunderstood.  Clarification required is as follow.  Maximum power point of solar panel changes with respect to temperature. for. e.g. at 25 deg c Max power point is 19volt and when temperature of ambient increases to 40 deg c Max. power point is 17.2votl.  so mppt controller at 40 deg c should track the new max. power point. like wise when temperature falls to 10deg c new maximum power point is 20volt.

BQ24650 should track this changes. likewise changes in battery voltage wrt to temperature should also be tracked based on temperature coefficient.

how to incorporate temperature co efficient effect in BQ24650.  I hope thermistor is connected to TS pin for this purpose.

  • Thermistor is used to sense battery pack temperature. TS function does not include tracking MPPT.

You will need an external MCU to track the panel temperature and then setting the corresponding voltage at MPPT pin by resistors. The device itself does not tracking the panel temperature and its MPPT point change since every panel's characteristics is different.

  • then why BQ24650 is called MPPT Controller.  can i use BQ24650 as dc supply to drive load without connecting battery to output of BQ24650 will it work.  is it necessary battery must be connected to its output for BQ24650 to work

  • The reason BQ24650 has MPPT function is that the input voltage regulation can be adjustable which gives the user the option to set for different input voltage regulation threshold. Traditional standalone battery charger typically has internally fixed input voltage regulation.

You can refer to the application note below for using bq24650 to do maximum power point tracking.

  • from where do i get PSPICE model of BQ24650 if possible driving dc motor

  • We do not have PSPICE models for bq24650. For reverse current blocking circuit, please have a look to the forum post in the link below.

  • with respect to above post as mentioned by you thermistor is connected to pin TS what is its function w.r.t mppt?  does it increase the pulse width or decrease the pulse with.  my temperature varies from 10 deg C to 50 deg C.  Normal operating temperature is 40 deg C.  now how to fix the operating point at 40 deg C and what impact does this thermisor will produce for any variation of temperature about this operating point.  will it affect output or input voltage.

What is the linear relation between voltage at TS point w.r.t input or outpu voltage

  • The TS function is really use to monitor the battery pack temperature. It is not related to the panel temperature.
