bq24157: I2C latch issue

Hi Sir,

Our client met the I2C latched issue(SDA keep low) during low temperature(-20C~0C) charging, and it needs POR(remove BAT) to recovery it.

May I know what's condition will let bq24157 latch I2C?

BTW, the bq24157 has not watchdog function, whether there watchdog can avoid this kind of issue?(like change to bq24158)

Is watchdog reset include I2C hardware?

We are not aware of an I2C latch issue. Does this happen on multiple units? Is this on the EVM or customer board? If you increase the temperature before removing the battery, does the IC recover?

Hi Jeff,

The client responses it keeping latch except remove BAT.(POR)

They are using bq24150A originally without this latch issue and change to bq24157 then meet I2C problem.

Could you please help to review their schematic?

And I also attached the testing log data for you reference, please see the 47229 column with AO to BA rows.

Besides, may I know what's different between bq24157 and bq24158?

The schematic looks okay. I was unable to open the .ods log file. Can you resend in a different format or tell where I can download a reader for .ods files?

The differences between 157 and 158 can be seen by comparing the tables on page 4 section 6 of each datasheet.
