BQ27441-G1: pls help recommend a power solution..

It sounds like you want a power solution to use the 5V DC input OR the 3V-4.2V battery. The simplest solution is to use a diode, but I think you are also missing a charger for your battery in your block diagram. Usually the charger can take the 5V input, pass it to the system while charging the battery, but when the 5V input is not present then it will provide the battery voltage to the system instead. I've re-assigned this to the charger forum for their suggestion. What is the capacity of your battery and what charging current and voltage do you require?

We have chargers that can buck DCDC charge and boost DCDC back to the input. However, for boost mode during battery only you will need to wait 30ms to boost back power.

If this is ok for you, I would recommend using either the BQ25895. This will help incorporate the boost converter and the buck charger into a single IC.

If you only need a charger, and still want the boost to provide continuous power, then I would look at either the BQ25600 or BQ25601 (either CSP or QFN package), or the BQ25606 which is a standalone device.
