TPS63051: 2.5MHz Fsw tolerance

My customer has D-in TPS630501 and currently do the evaluation on their proto board. Engineer measure Fsw 2.83MH with Vin 5.25V, Vout 3.3V/800mA

Customer has concern on EMI and they have the requirement of Fsw tolerance of 10%. Could you share the min - max Fsw of this device as the spec only specify typical value. Thanks

Hello Kelvin,

As the customer already measures 2.83MHz which is more than 10% higher than his tolerable tolerance, it seems that this part is not the right one for his application.
You could recommend TPS63030 or TPS63036.

Customer have not gave up TPS63051.

Are you able to tell the reason why TPS63051 cannot guarantee the Fsw tolerance?

The reason customer like to know the tolerance is for EMI precaution in the design for a known switching frequency range.

Hello Kelvin,

TPS63051 is not running from an oscillator, but a ramp generator. The frequency of a ramp generator is more dependent on external influences like temperature, input voltage, output voltage, ... than an oscillator.
