BQ34Z100-G1: OCV at DOD 100%

May I know what is OCV @DOD 100% in CHEM_ID curve for li-ion or LPF4? I want to set EDV to 2.6V and worry about 2.6V would be out of DOD range in IT gauge, especially in light load condition.

The EDV0 (terminate voltage) for the cell is defined by the cell manufacturer and will be found in their datasheet.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for the reply, that means I can set terminate voltage to 2.6V in gauge if the cell is specified <=2.6V?

My Cell's spec as below: it shows cut off voltage is 2.5V

Hi Mark,

Yes, please use 2.5 V for the Terminate Voltage in this case when determining the chemID and running the learning cycle. After the gauge has completed a successful learning cycle, the terminate voltage may then be changed to 2.6 V.

As long as the configuration is 2S or higher, you will not need to account for power supply issues to the part and flash update OK Voltage may be set below the default value of 2800 mV to 1000 mV. If this is a 1S case, please let me know and we'll discuss more in depth.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your reply, may I know why i needs to set Terminate Voltage to lowest(2.5V) and what happen if I set Terminate Voltage to higher such as 3V? I think in single cell application a load is hard to support such low voltage(2.5V).

My configuration is 8s, it should be OK for flash update.

Hi Mark,

The reason to set the lowest value is to allow the device to match the battery profile to the proper battery profile in the chemistry identification (chemID) database. This lowest value may also be used for learning so the device has learned the actual qmax and impedances of the actual cells. Once learned, you may increase the value for use in your operation.
